YOUTH PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Youth President’s Message
July 2008

Dear Youth Members,
It is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 2008 PHBA Western Hauler Youth World Show.  We are extremely excited about our sponsorship with Western Hauler and the perks that come with Western Hauler’s commitment to our youth program.  This week offers an opportunity for a great competition, great fellowship, and a whole lot of fun, so everyone please join us in making GREAT MEMORIES in Tulsa in ’08!
This year, there are a great number of fantastic activities.  The stalls will be available to move in on Sunday, July 13 at 8:00 a.m.  The Kick-Off-Bash is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 14.  The evening activities will begin with line up for Parade of States at 4:30 p.m., followed by the showcase of our future PHBA youth members in the Costume Stick Horse Race. The Appreciation Reception, for sponsors, volunteers, trainers and parents, will be at 5:45 p.m.  At 6:45 p.m., Western Hauler will bring the crowd to their feet, with the thrill and excitement of the Western Hauler T-Shirt Throw.  At 7:00 p.m., entertainment will begin by the Youth Benefit: Amazing Race and finally at 9:00 p.m., all PHBA youth members are invited to the annual Drysdale’s $1000 giveaway.  Drysdales continues to be a very enthusiastic supporter of the PHBA-Y World Show.  Remember, everyone has a chance to win, but you must be present to win.  Cross your fingers, this year it may be YOU!!
A Progressive Dinner will be held on Wednesday July 16, at 7:00 p.m.  This will be a fun and exciting social hour that will create unity within the youth. It will be held in front of each APA’s stalls.  A dish or snack should go with the theme each APA chooses for “Holidays”.  Also, remember that stall decorations will be judged from Tuesday to Friday at 12:00 p.m.  Announcement of the winners and awards will be given at the Youth Awards Luncheon.
Please plan to attend the PHBA Youth Association National Convention meeting on Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m., at the Doubletree Hotel at Warren Place . Your input and ideas are greatly welcome because it is your opinions and thoughts that keep our organization strong and growing.  Feel free to email me at chancewphbay@yahoo.com
The Youth Awards Luncheon will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m., at the Doubletree Hotel at Warren Place . At this time, the 2007 Youth Year End Awards as well as the 2008 Youth World Show awards will be showcased.  As in the past , there will be an auction, to benefit the PHBA-Y Organization and Scholarship Fund.  Everyone please try to request donated items.
I would like to give a huge THANK YOU to the members of OPEA, who make the PHBA Youth World Championship Horse Show and PHBA Youth National Convention possible.  Their countless hours of volunteer work are greatly appreciated!  I am incredibly grateful for them, as they are so loyal and dedicated to the youth!  Heather Williams and Sabrina Ansley,  our Youth World Show Chairmen, deserve never ending thanks for all of their hard work and devotion to the Youth World Show.  Both of these ladies have been such an inspiration to all of us. Know that I love you both!
Another large THANK YOU goes out to all of our sponsors and logo product partners.  Our sponsors’ generosity provides our impressive awards, world show packets, and other perks.  Our major sponsors and logo merchandise partners include: Arena Werks, Drysdales Western Wear, Filly Tac, Fourwinds Saddlery, Gist Silversmiths, Gold Creations, Jeff Kirkbride Photography, Jim Norton Toyota, Metropolitan Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, Tulsa New Holland, Video Horse World, Western Horseman Magazine, Fossil Gate Farms: Gary and Linda Gordon (home of Mr. Yella Fella and Im Tee Totally Cool), David and Debbie Donald, Allen Browder, Baker Farms ( John and Fay Baker), Grumpy Farmer and Family, Hank and Lynn Rohwedder and Family, Barbara Upham , Alexis Garza and Brad Jewett, Leo Joseph and Family,  May Performance Horses, Sartain Equine Mgmt., Sundowner, Georganne and Bob Cox, The Helen Fleming Family and Porta Cool of Texas.
